If you want to host your WordPress blog or website, there are a number of things you should consider when choosing a web hosting company. These include:

1) Disk Space

Find the amount of disk space offered by the web hosting company. The amount of space you require ultimately depends on your website. If you are hosting large files like videos and audio files, you will need a bigger space.

2) Bandwidth

Check the amount of bandwidth allocated by the company. Bandwidth refers to the amount of traffic that is transferred between your website and the Internet. If you anticipate a large amount of traffic, go for a higher bandwidth. A low traffic website can do okay with 5GB bandwidth while a high traffic one may need unlimited bandwidth – something that many web hosts offer at a low fee.

3) Cost

Compare costs of different web hosting companies to get a good deal. Watch out not to pay a lot for the hosting. Typically, anything that is less than $10 per month is good. However, cost should not be the only factor to consider. Factor in other things like features of the web hosting package before you go for the lowest cost.

4) Server Uptime

The company should offer guaranteed server uptimes. No single company can offer 100% uptime as there are many unforeseen things that can cause downtimes. However, strive to get a company that offers 99.7% and above for three consecutive months.

5) Type of Hosting

Find out the type of hosting you will require. Will you be going for a dedicated server or a shared server? Typically, you will not need a dedicated server unless your customers will have to provide their credit card numbers to buy something from your website.

The above are some of the things you should consider when choosing between web hosting companies. You have to strike a balance between all of them to find a web hosting package that will give you the most bang for your buck.

The best hosting services will offer uptime of over 99%. This should be a guarantee to motivate the company to keep all servers up all the time. Of course, visitors should also be able to access your site quickly.
