The German company, Neofonie has finally made the decision to show off its WePad. The company inivited journalist to a press-conference and experience two working model of the tablet PC, touted to fend off the hype of Apple iPad. Netbooknews.de was among the invited press and they managed to capture several videos of WePad. From the video, you can see the working WePad with its Linux-based user interface.
According to the German company, there will be two versions of the Intel Atom N450-powered tablet, which has two USB ports and an onboard webcam — the 16GB / WiFi version will go for €450 and the 64GB / HD capable model for €569. WePad would probably be released in August 2010, but it is unclear whether it will be sold worldwide including Malaysia. I’m not sure WePad can really compete with iPad as to me, it’s more likely to be compared with other Tablet PC.
UPDATE: Neofonie has decided to rename WePad to WeTab, to distinguish itself from the apple iPad.
