Finally, Intel-Powered MeeGo 1.0 Goes Public

After Apple announced their iPhone OS 4, Intel and Nokia’s much awaited open-source MeeGo 1.0 OS was unveiled  yesterday by Intel in Beijing, on four different sorts of devices – a smartphone, a netbook, a TV, and a digital coupon machine. The open-source OS was shown running on Intel silicon or Acer Aspire One to be exact. Several features that were included: appointments, tasks, 3D gaming support and real-time social networking integration for Twitter, Facebook and other instant messaging clients. It has some familiar look to Moblin than Maemo. Meego is expected to be used in Nokia 900 later this year. From the preview, the MeeGo OS looks quite capable, with a simple, smooth and responsive user interface. Check out the video below:

Meizu’s mBook – Yet Another iPad Clone but with Full HD

After Shezen’s P88 and Germany’s WePad, iPad now has another "competitor"- Meizu’s mBook! Meizu, a portable media device developer company from China has launched another "cloning" war on Apple iPad by releasing the specification of their development tablet PC named as the mBook (at least temporarily). The mBook has a 8.4-inch capacitive touchscreen display with XGA (1024×768) resolution. Being just 210mm x 140mm x 14mm in dimensions, it’s significantly smaller than the iPad. Apple has released new variants of MacBook Pro powered with the latest Corei processors (Core i5 and Corei7) and Nvidia graphic card. The new specs are introduced for 15-inch and 17-inch versions with the specs for the 13-inch version remain unchanged (at least for now). However, the price for MacBook Pro 13-inch has dropped slightly below RM4,000.
