Dropbox will soon eliminate the Public Folders features, one that has attracted many to use this cloud storage service. Based on an earlier email sent to users of Dropbox API, the company will no longer be creating Public folders for new users starting on July 31.

However, the functions will still be available for current users at least for now, but those who create new accounts after the 31 July would not be able to their dump files in a public folder to simplify sharing. New users need to create link to the public files via the Get Link feature. It is rather troublesome to use the Get Link feature but it is touted to be a safer way to protect user files from public leechers.
