After all the hypes surrounding the release of iPhone 4, now everyone’s attention is directed to the “flaws” that comes with the new phone especially on the antenna woes! To make things worse, Consumer Reports said careful testing has confirmed user reports that holding the phone over a particular spot drastically reduces the signal strength it receives. Covering the spot with duct tape or a case would solve the problem.
But the sad thing is the way Apple or Steve Job to be exact is responding to the issue. He was very blunt in an e-mail to a concerned iPhone 4 owner who voiced out his dissatisfaction on the amount of dropped calls due to poor reception. “Just avoid holding it in that way,” he wrote. Oh no! As much as Apple wants to claim that they have created a phone with a brilliant engineering, such a response would not help resolve the issue.
So far, Apple has not officially provide an acceptable free solution to the iPhone 4’s signal-loss problem. As usual, they are too stubborn to admit they made a mistake. Though there is speculation that Apple could announce a program to give away a $29 Apple-branded bumper case that would fix the problem, many iPhon 4 buyers would not want that and they are hoping for a recall and a hardware fix! Well, who doesn’t when one have spent quite a lot to get this phone.
Of course, Apple would downplay this and claim that many happy customers are out there and only a small number of the users are having such problem.
I do think Apple was under immense pressure to release the phone after several “leaked” prototypes were found. They might have not tested the phone well enough before announcing its release.
Anyway, we’ll see what Apple will say in the upcoming press conference on this issue.
