I just got my hands on this Dell Inspiron model, and to be frank, the performance is better than I expected. This model (1464-43235G) is among the first few laptops to feature Intel Core i5 as its processor. Plus, it also comes with DDR3 memory and 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4330 graphic card. It’s an affordable laptop for those who need a decent laptop for graphic needs.

The Specification

  • 14" High Definition (720p) WLED Display with TrueLife
  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • Intel Core i5 Processor 430M (2.26GHz 1066MHz FSB)
  • 2GB DDR3 RAM
  • 320GB HDD
  • ATI HD 4330 512MB VRAM
  • 8X DVD +/- RW
  • 1.3MP, with face regconition

The Performance

With Core i5 and ATI graphic,  this mid-end laptop does well for graphic and gaming needs. I tested this machine with The Sim 3 and Modern Warfare 2. Both games can be played with no problems with good graphic details but it starts to overheat a little after 1 hour of playing. This is rather normal for laptop running heavy graphic apps.  It also run smooth when multiple apps are run and used at the same time perhaps thanks to Windows 7 Premium capability as well. The downside is the small storage capacity, I do expect 500GB space for this laptop. Nonetheless, considering it price, this laptop is still very decent. This little laptop travels well, looks great and handles your needs for years to come.

The price starts at RM2,799.

    Hi all,
I am using Dell1464 with i5 processor, 4 gb ddr3, 320 hd, 512 graphic, win7 pro 64 bit, etc and to tell you the truth, this is the best and fastest laptop i had in this price range. It is also my first Dell and am completely satisfied with its performance. its turbo mode really works. Multitasking is smooth. glad on my decision to go with this 1464.

i am losing recovery partition which include the recovery image for this model. could u help me if you can extract the recovery image from ur laptop for me?

    anyway thanks!

    • KeeMan, April 23, 2010 @ 9:15 am Reply

What did u do that u lose the partition? U wipe clean/format the hard disk?

      • John Doe, April 23, 2010 @ 10:48 am Reply

Sort of.. Long story… Something like this..

When I get my computer there are two operating system of Windows 7 was installed. One of it are fresh installed that asked me to create account and one of them have been installed before that I can’t login under username from the store i brought.

I decided to restore factory default after I found a service partition exists through OS that are fresh installed before. But I didn’t found apps Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 to proceed the restore factory default or create Recovery CD. Even the utility DVD which included the drivers never had this apps.

Dell had provided the Windows 7 DVD but after following the instruction to refresh install so the partitions were recreated again and partition named Recovery was lost.

        • KeeMan, April 23, 2010 @ 11:10 am Reply

Ahh…okay, it seems like u have wiped clean the recovery partition. I wish I could provide you with the Image but I no longer have this laptop with me. Is your Inspiron still under warranty? You can actually request a fresh recovery from the Service Center.

Alternatively, you can request via online Support using this this link

          • John Doe, April 23, 2010 @ 11:26 am

            Thanks for ur help.

Actually I already called dell support before. One of their tech person said that the image (factory.wim) or recovery partition once have been wipe off, so there is no chance to get it back. Unless used the provided Windows 7 for reinstall/clean install.

Another luck is to get other person’s system that same as i to retrived this revovery partition again.

So it’s up to all guys here can help me if u all have the same system as i especially “Asad Niazi”.

Do u have his email info so i can try to contact him KeeMan?

        Hey John,
Sorry for late reply, I bought the model with dos OS as we have Microsoft EA so we don’t require laptops/desktop to come with windows pre installed. Instead I bought model with i5-520 processor instead of i5-430. This way i got better processor in almost the same price but without Windows OS. I am not using recovery partition on hard disk but i did created recovery dvd’s using win 7. I will see if I could create recovery partition through win-7. I simply downloaded drivers for win 7 64bit and used them after installing raw win-7.
        Will get back to you.

anyone here can suggest whether necessary 2 upgrade d ram 2 4gb? use 4 study n gaming..

    • John Doe, May 23, 2010 @ 2:58 pm Reply

It’s referring to your specs. Based on my experience 2gb is sufficient for working mode. It’s because if you are using the default factory installation that came form your laptop (not clean install) so the services that ware running in your windows take much of your memory resources.

My suggestion is that do clean install of windows (make sure backup your data 1st -any steps taken are at your own risk), then make some tweaks on our windows for gamming performance. After that installed 4gb(+ 2gb 3rd party of ram) then there you go.

Depends on the gamming specs too for better playing results…

i purchase dell inspiron 1464 with dos please tell me step by step solution to install win 7

    • KeeMan, August 9, 2010 @ 11:10 am Reply

Do you have the Win7 cd?? Just install it from boot.

  • Asad Niazi, August 9, 2010 @ 12:59 pm Reply

    Hi again 🙂
I agree with Kee Man, put you win 7 cd and it will boot and start installing itself. but before you do that, kindly copy drivers from dell site for win7. I’m sure you will not have any problem during installation and once you do that, start installing drivers one by one. I also purchased mine 1464 with dos and I did that. Since mine has 4 gb of ram so I install win7 64 bit and its running really well.
