I’m not sure how many of you realise that Facebook constantly uses your photos as well as your friends’ on their advertisements. It’s part of their methods to lure people to click on the ads. It’s like saying, hey your friends are using this, why don’t you try it as well! Duh! Who knows your photos might appear on some escort pages or even some enlargement programs for guy’s special organ!
But then again, Facebook is very clever is playing with their Terms of Service (part of the policy you and I agreed):
Facebook occasionally pairs advertisements with relevant social actions from a user’s friends to create Facebook Ads. Facebook Ads make advertisements more interesting and more tailored to you and your friends. These respect all privacy rules.
Aaahh….now you’re an instant ad model! Don’t like that? All you have to do to prevent this is sign in to Facebook and click through to > Settings > Privacy > News Feed and Wall > Facebook Ads > Appearance in Facebook Ads and click "no one." (if it wasn’t set so). Unless, of course, you want to be famous and have your picture used to push some garbage product or website without your knowledge.
And yeah, be sure to check out other privacy settings as well. Strangers can also gain access to your photo album and misuse them for various purposes.
