Now, before you think China-based Great Loong Brother Industrial Co.  is copying iPad, please bear in mind that P88 was introduced much earlier than Apple announced its iPad. And some reports have claimed that the Shenzen-based company is trying to sue Apple for copying their idea. To me, P88 is not iPad look-alike or clone at all since both are entirely different, except for the idea of making it a "book-size" touch screen PC.

The P88 is thicker and heavier than the iPad with only 1.5 hours of battery life compared to the long 10 hours battery life from the iPad. Spec wise, P88 has a larger screen, faster processor, bigger memory and USB ports to boast about. But having a "tablet pc" with only 1.5 hours of battery life? For me, it’s useless! Better spend on laptop then.

The Specifications of P88 in Comparison with iPad

CPU
P88: Intel Atom 1.6GHz
iPad: 1GHz Apple A4 custom-designed chip

RAM
P88:1GB

WEIGHT
P88:1.03kg
iPad: 0.73kg for the one with Wi-Fi and 3G

HD SPACE
P88: 160GB spinning disk hard drive
iPad: Up to 64GB flash drive

SCREEN SIZE
P88: 10.2 inches
iPad: 9.7 inches

PORTS
P88: 3 USB ports, one VGA, an RJ-45, car reader, earphone and mic
iPad: Several adapters available.

BATTERY LIFE
P88:  1.5 hours
iPad: 10 hours as claimed

PRICE
P88: a little less than $440
iPad: Starting at $499

P88 runs smooth with its Atom processor, more or less like a netbook but it lacks the features in iPad. And with 1.5 hours of battery life, P88 is definitely below par and with that price range, might as well go for iPad.

Haha.. China The Great.. Whatever popular items in the world especially electronic hardware, they managed to duplicate it first. I really don’t get it, how do they work on something very fast than the original creator but sometimes their final products are very flaw…

@ZoOL: great way to show how ignorant you are.

    1. The P88 came out Q2 2009. Yes, that’s 2009. More than half a year before the iPad was released. And half a year before it was even announced. Who copied whom?

    2. Flip over anything you use everyday. See where it’s made in. Do you think Apple make their own parts and assemble them here in the US? Have you not heard about the Foxconn suicides?

If you don’t know crap about anything, better not open your mouth.

That being said, the battery is indeed horrible. The tablet itself is ok (single-touch screen though, and I can’t get Windows 7 to recognize the touchscreen w/o 3rd party drivers), but it’s pretty useless if you can’t use it for more than 90mins w/o recharging.

Oh, and the fan is LOUD! Xbox360 loud.

Itaintrite, i think you’re the ignorant one. the P88 obviously copied the iphone’s design first then used ipad as a scapegoat. so did mr china managed
to sue apple at all? theres totally no case.
