Toshiba Portege T130: Super Long Battery Life
Review Score:

Toshiba laptops or notebooks are famous for its tough build and robustness. The new Toshiba Protege T130 (part of the Toshiba slim series), however, focused more on two other equally important features: light weight and super long battery life. How long? 11 hours!!

With a 13.3 inch WXGA HD Clear SuperView LED Backlight TFT display, this laptop has all the necessary features and spec except with the absence of DVD/CD-ROM Drive. The laptop is equipped with Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core processor SU4100 (1.3GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)  and 2GB DDR3 RAM, as well as 320GB HDD with shock absorbers.

But the key highlights of this laptop are as follows:

  • Outstanding Battery Life (Up to 11 Hours as tested by MobileMark). This laptop lasts for up to 11 hours* on a single charge, but it depends on configuration, applications, power management settings and features utilized. The one I tested last for about 7 hours, while doing simple net surfing and web chatting with no accessories (like USB mouse) attached. Still pretty decent!
  • Ultralight, Ultraportable – It weight about 1.76kg, which light and easy to carry around, like hanging around at cafes.
  • 3D Hard Drive Protection – It also comes with A 3-axis monitoring system dynamically detects free falls, shock or vibration in all directions and rapidly prepares the drive head for impact, protecting your valuable data. Pretty cool huh?
  • Connectivity ~ USB Sleep-and-Charge Ports – This is what I like as well, it allows you to charge your smart phone, MP3 player or other portable electronics, even with your Notebook PC turned off.

Overall, the laptop is pretty decent though I would expect the graphic/video card to be better. But with super long batter life, this laptop is suitable for those always on the go! And the price is reasonable too! It’s yours from RM2,599 in Malaysia.

I agree with Toshiba Lover that Toshiba is a good, reliable and tough brand for a laptop. How much does Toshiba Portege T130 cost? Hopefully it doesn’t put a hole in my pocket to own one.

Based on your budget, I would say, go for DELL Inspiron 14. HP Laptop below RM2k, normally have problems.

Dell Inspiron 14 (RM1.8k version) with 4GB RAM would fit you. HP laptop below 2k is not that good.
