Tough tough week

Posted On Mar 24, 2008 // Lost Paradise//No Comment

Yeah, i know, i’ve not been blogging frequently of late. Thanks to my increasing workload and the trouble of getting connected here at home. I’ll make blogging a weekly routine now. Hehe. So what’s keeping me busy? First is of course preparing two conference paper for ITSymposium 2008 and Cyberg2008. Then, got myself engaged in two new template designs, one for Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development, and the other for Registrar’s Office, UNIMAS. Both are template specially designed for Joomla content management system, the backbone of all microsites in UNIMAS portal. And of course, i’m also busy with my own Master’s research. But i can’t understand why i manage to do all that in one week and still have time to enjoy my other routines like watching TV and playing games! Haha.

And yeah, on Good Friday last week, my housemates (Mag, LC), and I went to our friend’s (Tracey) kampong at Bengoh, somewhere along the way to Borneo Heights. Stayed there for a night and enjoy the "peaceful" kampong life (which reminds me a lot of my own kampong back in Kelantan). Well, not that peaceful anyway, considering that part of the kampong is under development, thanks to another mega "dam" project by the state government, powered by the ever popular Naim Cendana. I’ll post more on this in my next post.

And to sum up a tough week, Arsenal second defeat of the season to Chelsea. Though i’m expecting the young guns to lose but it’s really tough to accept when Man Utd is now 5 points ahead, after Liverpool make themselves pay for sloppy defending. Anyhow, still dreaming of Arsenal winning the Champion’s League, never mind the EPL. Hehe. :)

What BN Should Learn from Election 2008

Posted On Mar 10, 2008 // Current Issues//4 Comments

Well well, guess everyone is having a big discussion as to how the opposition or Barisan Rakyat managed to snap 5 states in style, especially for DAP which has done a magnificient job in sweeping their seats in Penang, Selangor and Perak. The truth is, like what Dr. M aptly put, it’s not so much of supporting the Opposition, but it’s rather more on NOT supporting BN for their poor record during the last 3-4 years. With racial unrest and security issues painting the backdrop, Malaysians are expressing their protest with the less-than-convincing efforts by the BN government to lower inflation and ease the rising cost of livings especially among urban folks. But here are few lessons that BN should learn from Eection 2008. (These are solely my opinion and doesn’t reflect my ideology or any instituitions that i represent).

1. Ignoring BONUS for Civil Servants is really a BAD IDEA! Yeah, it may sounds weird, but when you look at the majority that the Opposition candidates grabbed in the five states, it’s huge. And i reckon, to get such large majority, it also means that most government servants especially in the five states that the opposition won are voting against BN!! So No BONUS for them means NO Vote for BN! Haha.

2. Sending a doctor cum model to SPACE is a FOOLISH IDEA! Well, we have talked a lot on this issue. The money spent on that "short trip" would have please more Malaysians by providing better facilities, incentives, etc!

3. Allowing "under-perform" candidiates to stay is a STUPID idea. This election saw more "casualties" among the minister cum BN candidates than ever. Most of them are "seasoned" figure and had not been performing well. I can’t understand why they are allowed to stay.

4. Being over-confident and not working hard for the people is a Dangerous Idea. For far too long some of BN candidates are acting like they will win their seats forever and ignore the outcry of the people that they represent. Those representing people of Penang and Selangor are "good" example.

Well, i do hope Pak Lah will wake up from his sleep and start looking at strategies to please the people. And for the oppositions that are ruling the five states, all the best. This is the chance to deliver what you have promised and make use of the opportunity before the people decide again in 4 years time!

Alas…

Oh my God, days with no single blog post! How can I even go through that! Yeah, i’ve been busy with some "offline" tasks that i couldn’t spare out some time to blog. Am i busy campaigning for the upcoming election? NO. The truth is I participated in the UNIMAS 2nd Annual RnD Expo, a 3-day expo which ended today (yes, just few minutes ago!). It’s been a fruitful experience for me. Apart from showcasing the product made by my partner, Alvinson and me, I got the chance to meet with some of the leading researchers in UNIMAS, especially those Prof. and Assoc. Prof who had won several awards internationally. Well, i can’t post much now, will upload the pics on the expo and more details soon.

And to those who want to join the PARTY for selecting the PARTY that is going to rule the country for the next 4 years, i wish you all HAVE FUN!. :)
