After Apple announced their iPhone OS 4, Intel and Nokia’s much awaited open-source MeeGo 1.0 OS was unveiled yesterday by Intel in Beijing, on four different sorts of devices – a smartphone, a netbook, a TV, and a digital coupon machine. The open-source OS was shown running on Intel silicon or Acer Aspire One to be exact. Several features that were included: appointments, tasks, 3D gaming support and real-time social networking integration for Twitter, Facebook and other instant messaging clients. It has some familiar look to Moblin than Maemo.
Meego is expected to be used in Nokia 900 later this year. From the preview, the MeeGo OS looks quite capable, with a simple, smooth and responsive user interface. Check out the video below:
