7 things you need to know about iPhone 3G S

Apple finally introduced its updated version of iPhone 3G, named as iPhone 3G S. Like most of Apple’s products, it’s the embodiment of svelte sexiness and brilliant features. Like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one — a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device with rich HTML email and a desktop-class web browser. It will be released in Malaysia through MAXIS very soon! Here are the 7 key facts you need to know about iPhone 3G S

1.  Highly resistant

The iPhone 3G S has a highly-resistant finish to its body. Whereas the old iPhone 3G would succumb to those gadget kryptonites – water and oil – the new iPhone 3G S has a water- and oil-resistant body. A cool improvement that most iPhone lovers would appreciate!

2. Same size, same shape

The iPhone 3G S is exactly the same size and shape as the old iPhone 3G (although it is 2g heavier!). What that means is all your existing accessories will work with it and you don’t need to familarise yourself with the changing size.

3. Enhanced Photo Features

Taking photos with the iPhone 3G S? Cleverly, it knows how close you are to your subject, and automatically switches to “Macro Mode” when they’re around 10cm away. Great for papping celebs when they’re right up in your face!It even comes with 3.0 megapixels camera.

4. Packed with Apple’s remote headphones

Along with the iPhone 3G S you get Apple’s own earphones, complete with the multi-button remote, which has a single control key and volume controls, and a mic. Ahhh…rejoice!

5. Video editing: waste not, want not

Editing any video you capture actually destroys everything you throw away. Once that ‘waste’ has gone you can never get it back. So be careful. You have been warned!

6. Talk to me: Voice Control

Voice control on the iPhone 3G S understands full sentences, and even dictated phone numbers. So you can say “what song is this?” for example. Or “play more songs like this”, and the iPhone 3G S will understand you. Voice Control recognises the names in your Contacts and knows the music on your iPod. So if you want to place a call or play a song, all you have to do is ask.

7. It comes with a Compass!

The iPhone 3G S has a digital compass, and it doesn’t just work in Google Maps. Apple has built a new Compass app, which can switch between true north and magnetic north, as well as using GPS to give full coordinates. Double tapping the location icon in Google Maps spins the map to be the right way round.

All in all, it’s indeed a greater improvement to the exisiting iPhone 3G.
