I was checking my Windows startup list today that i noticed something called Bonjour running at the system background. If you go to windows services management (Go to Run, type in: Services.msc), you’ll discover it runs under “##Id_String2.6844F930_1628_4223_B5CC_5BB94B879762##” Yup it looks like some spyware script, i think you share the same initial impression as mine. Upon several Googling activitiy, i found out that it’s actually part of Adobe Photoshop CS3 suite! Adobe has published a official explanation for that here. But hey, what the hell is Bonjour service? The Adobe team claimed it as:
Bonjour is Apple’s open source implementation of zero-configuration networking software. It is used by Adobe Version Cue CS3 client applications to dynamically discover Version Cue Servers on the local network.
If you don’t understand what they are trying to say, in ENGLISH it simply means “a software to keep track of your activity!!”. While it is not harmful as trojan or spyware, it’s simply useless when you just want to enjoy optimum productivity on your Adobe suite. Luckily, Adobe does provide instructions to remove it:
