Research In Motion (RIM) today released two new model of smartphones, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930, which will come pre-installed with a new operating system – BlackBerry 7 OS. The OS is a latest version of BlackBerry OS which was released as Version 6 last August.
The two new smartphones comes with a better screen (full VGA 640×480) and capacitive touchscreens. Another notable change is the processor. Both models are equipped with 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processors. They are almost among the thinnest BlackBerry smartphones ever (measured at 10.5mm). No significant changes to the “external look” of the phones though (which is good since Bold has always been sleek and pro).
Wireless Network support:
As for the BlackBerry OS Version 7, it has faster JavaScript performance and HTML5 support. Other notable additions to the new OS are NFC (near field communications) and augmented reality applications, voice-enabled search and 720p HD video recording. The BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 will be available from summer, but sadly old devices will not get the upgrade.
