Good news to iPad 3G owners in Malaysia (those bought from grey market prior to official release of course), Maxis has become the first telco to offer micro-SIM specially for iPad 3G owners. The switch to micro-SIM can be done via all Maxis centres nationwide. This may seem like Maxis’ first step in preparing for the official availability of iPad in Malaysia.
microSIM (or 3FF – third form factor) is smaller in size and is of course backward compatibility with the standard GSM Mini-SIM, the one we’re all using at the moment. It also comes with other features like new enhanced authentication, larger phonebook storage and simultaneous access for applications.
Well, I think more smartphones will be using micro-SIM soon, so the move by Maxis is a good step forward.
