Facebook Says It Takes Safety Very Seriously: The New Safety Centre

If you’re on FACEBOOK, chances are you are no longer safe from cyber stalkers, cyber bullies or even cyber "salesperson"! So, Facebook takes this matter very seriously, and have revamped its Safety Centre for everyone to learn some good practices when using the social networking site. If you have not bothered to explore further than your profile walls, this Safety Centre is available via the Help Center, which is accessible via your Account drop down menu.

Now, Facebook team has grouped the safety tips according to five major groups: General, Educators, Parents, Teens and also Law Enforcers. You’ll get specific tips according to each category. I tried out the Safety for Educators section and one item that is worth noting is "How can I maintain a professional presence on the site separate from my personal profile?"  Facebook provides useful advice for educators to utilise its Pages and Groups as well as creating Friend List to filter out students from accessing their private info or materials.

If you do take time to explore the given tips, some of them are essentially the same. Nonetheless, Facebook users should really be educated on their safety as the cases of FB users being victimised are on the rise! Perhaps, Facebook will be introducing FB Police soon?
