As a proponent of Cloud Computing, Google is in the process of finalising its latest open-source baby known as Chrome OS (operating system), as many have been anticipating for months. Announced on July 7, 2009, Google Chrome OS is meant for netbook users and will depend heavily on internet connection to run (since it’s meant for Cloud Computing anyway). It’s coded based on Linux and will continue to use Chrome web browser as its main interface. Like most netbook-based OS, Chrome OS boast super fast loading time. It will load the web browser seconds after you turn on your computer. It’s going to be light weight as most of the apps are ONLINE. Hence, this OS is really for those who spent most of their time online with decent internet connection. With this OS, you’ll see some familiar Google-based tools like Google Apps, YouTube, Google Docs, etc. Of course further development will see more tools included. All in one package. Well, take a sneak peak on the video released a couple of days ago.
My Verdict? I might use this OS for a netbook or my old notebook solely for my net activities.
