I was browsing through Discovery Science website, looking for some interesting articles to read and guess what I did manage to find one! And the title of the post is Top 10 Useless Human Organs. The article highlight the so-called 10 organs on our body that are practically USELESS, yes USELESS. And like the title of this post suggest, the No. 1 useless organ is MALE Nipples (see the list)!!
Surprisingly, since this article is published on the Discovery Science website, most people might think the Top 10 useless organs as highlighted are true. But let me tell you, of all the 10 highlighted, some are NOT as USELESS as we think they are.
Let me start with the No. 1 "Useless" Organ: Male Nipples
Contrary to popular belief, men can actually breastfeed (if they want to of course) and the nipples aren’t just for decoration. Scientists have proven that with the right amount of stimulation on a man’s mammary glands using hormones, it can actually cause male lactation or in other words milk production! And from sexual perspective, stimulation on the male nipples can produce sexual arousal! So you think it’s useless? Haha.
The Second so-called Useless Organ mentioned is the Appendix!
Most of us would think it’s useless because many people have it removed after it causes pain due to infection. The appendix is a narrow, muscular tube that attaches to the large intestine. Its purpose is to digest cellulose and helps set up the immune system in developing embryos. Appendix cannot be simply removed if it’s healthy. It serves as a good "backup" system for promoting immunity. You can read more on this by referring to this scientific findings.
Another one I want to highlight here is Plica semilunaris
I don’t know why this is on the list of USELESS organs when it really serves a good purpose! Plica semilunaris is better known as your third eyelid. If you pull up on each of your eyelids, the plica semilunaris will be exposed. This part of the eye is known to produce “sleep,” or that weird crust (eye wax some call it) you have in your eyes when you wake up. It secretes rheum, and thus helps to protect the eye! Is that useless??
If you browse through the list and look up on various books on anatomy, you might think those organs listed are not useless after all! I don’t know why Discovery.com put them up when it will in fact cause confusion.

Males Nipples are not useless since they serve as a physical feature…albeit a cosmetic one.
Yes thy can lactate but only under medication and that is alteration of the body, its forcing something out that normally wouldn’t happen.
What sane man would place breast pump on his nipples for sever weeks just to produce some milk that is second to female milk?
It has no benefits unless of course you live in a society where females cant produce adequate milk of their own!
