Flood Versus Election

Well, it’s been yet another terrible “year-end period” for those living in states hit by extreme floods. Yeah, water, water everywhere. The rising death cases this year signifies how a lot of people are taking the natural disaster very lightly. Parents especially are allowing their small children to “play” and have their “a-la-songkran” celebration in the high rising water on the streets. Now, they should not blame others if something bad happened when they themselves do not bother to take good care of their children. However, my attention is not towards parenting but another more important national agenda – the upcoming general election. We all heard of the rumours that election is going to be held very soon, but with the unpredictable floods causing a lot of people to suffer from sudden lost of love ones and belongings, there is little sign that an election is going to be held that soon, at least not this year.

Then again my concern is not about when the election is going to be held, but more on how certain “YBs” have been using the flood as a tool for their pre-election campaign. Some are already starting to “buy votes” by so-called helping the flood victims. While i’m against their kind gesture of offering monetary and material help, it is rather “annoying” to see them suddenly become “active” when throughout their tenure as MP or assemblymen, they failed to pay even the slightly attention to what is happening in their areas. I guess the people should think really really hard when the election comes and cast their votes to those whom they are 100% sure can fulfill their responsibilities.
