There goes the title…

Arsenal lost yet again, to Fulham early this morning. As i’ve predicted since the start of the season, Arsenal will be struggling to challenge for the title and it would be a very difficult year for Arsenal in all competitions. It turns out that my prediction is true after all. This is not because of the squad or Wenger, it’s the matter of “luck” and various external factors such as psychological strength and moving into the new Emirates Stadium. Moving into a new stadium especially, will require the Gunners to adapt the new pitch size and eventually have to change their style of play, which had blended excellently with Highbury. With bigger pitch size and playing Arsenal’s trademark beautiful football will need the players to have really good stamina as they need to cover more space than before.

And then Wenger’s loyalty to 4-5-1 formation, which seemed to work well last season but not this season. Reason? Arsenal’s wingers are not strong enough, considering the loss of flamboyant player like Robert Pires. Walcott has the pace but lacks experience, Ljungberg on the other hand, lack creativity. This in the end requires the striker especially Henry to work extra hard and pose a serious risk for fitness problems and injuries. But of course, blaming the players would not be fair. I can see that they really work hard to win. But the gap is there. The Professor needs to act fact, his degree in Economics will obviously let him realise that the title is beyond reach. Aiming for a 3rd spot would be realistic and perhaps another great performance in the Champions’ League would cure the heartbreak of all Arsenal Fans.

Arsenal had change a lot since 1997…different player base now, but still the great Henry nvr changed. I believe he will lead the young gunners through the best (Eboue, Toure, Clichy, Senderos, Hleb, Fabregas, Walcott, van Persie, Adebayor… they all still very young, still some distance to go thru…)
